After breakfast, 09.00 gather for a briefing on your upcoming trip. Your Program Director will go over the details of the trip and answer any questions you may have. You’ll also attend a Discovery Series discussion on “Ancient Egypt,” as a prelude to the discoveries ahead This morning we explore the ancient treasures of Egypt at the Egyptian Museum. Look at the golden riches from the tomb of King Tutankamen. After lunch by your own, We tour the Sphinx, the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure and the temples that make up the complex. For the daring a camel ride is available. Our visit ends with a breath taking desert view of the pyramids. Return to the hotel. The evening is free.

Today we travel to Amarna, on the way we tour Memphis the the ancient capital of Egypt and the Saqqara Necropolis. Here we explore the first pyramid built in Egypt, the Step Pyramid. We explore the Tombs of the Nobles, the pyramid of Unus, and the monuments assocciated with this complex. Next we tour the Pyramids of Dashur. These are the first true pyramids and hold aa great secret.
we tour the Pyramid of Medium. There is much mystery connected to this pyramid. We drive to Amarna and check into the Hotel Mercure.

Today we tour Amarna, once the glorious city built by the heritic Akhnaten. Amarna is one of the most interesting of the ancient ruins, both for its history and art. Fine pieces of sculpture were found here, including the famous head of Queen Nefertiti.

Return to Amarna, tour the Royal Family Tombs of Akhnaten. After lunch by own we travel and tour the tombs at Beni Hassan. These tombs were built during the Middle Kingdom for the princes of the region.

Luxor Today we tour the West Bank. to see monuments from the New Kingdom. We explore the Colossi of Memnon, all that remains of the great temple of Amenhotep 111. Excavation is being carried out in the area to unearth the remains of the temple. Next we explore the Temple of Hatshepsut with its relief covered walls telling of the queen’s magnificent reign. Nest we tour the Valley of the Kings where we visit four or five tombs, including the tomb of King Tut. Next we tour the tombs of the Nobles, the temple of Ramesses the Great, the workers village, where the artisians who worked on the tombs lived, the Temple of Ramesses 111,and the strangest tomb in Egypt, the tomb of Ramose. Learn why. We complete our tour by visiting the Valley of the Queens. Of special interest is the Tomb of Queen Nefertari, An optional tour of the tomb is available if the tomb is open. Free day to explore what you wish. Next we explore the Temple of Karnak, by far the largest ancient temple still standing. We wonder at how the ancient engineers built this temple. Next we travel to the Temple of Luxor. Both are among the finest xamples of architecture from the New Kingdom

We can return to the West Bank to explore additional sites of your choice. You can tour more tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Tour the Ramesseum, the Temple of Ramesses the Great, The valley of the Artisians, Tombs of the Nobels, Just tell us which. You may wish a general tour of Luxor. There is much to see. There is the Luxor Museum with its collection of New Kingdom Artifacts. There is the bazaar with everything for sale and more. It is your choice
Return to the ship and sail to Edfu. We dock for the night

We tour the beautiful Temple of Edfu that has impressive architecture We sail to KomOmbo, the best-preserved temple in Egypt.

We tour the Temple of KomOmbo and sail to Aswan. There is an optional tour the colossal Rock Temples of the Pharaoh Ramesses the Great and Queen Nefertari. The size of these temples is astounding and must be seen to be appreciated. They were built so that the rays of the rising sun shine into the santuraries on the equinoxes. We return to Aswan and return to our five stars cruise ship. We end the day with a sunset sail on the Nile, in a felucca. (Nile sailboat)

Today we tour the most beautiful temple in Egypt, the Temple of Philae. Built mostly during the Hellinistic times it is here that the last hieroglyph was carved in cc, 350 AD. Next we tour the High Dam and the Obelisk Quarries to see how the great obelisks were made. In the late afternoon, Late this afternoon we board the sleeper train to Cairo.

We arrive in Cairo and check into Optional tour: This afternoon we visit Khan El Khalili Bazaar, the oldest market in Egypt. It was built in the 14th Century. Just about everything can be found here and it is great for last minute shopping. The evening is free. Or, you might enjoy the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids or a tour of Cairo’s nightlife.
